Two Ships, One Week and Nearly 4,000 Tonnes Loaded

It’s been a busy and productive week for West Buckland Plant, with two vessels loaded in a single week and close to 4,000 tonnes of wood chip handled through ship loading operations in Wales.

Large-scale dockside operations like this rely on careful sequencing as much as raw power. As loading begins, material is placed directly into the bottom of the ship’s hull, with machinery working methodically upwards as the vessel fills.

Precision Loading From Hull to Brim

Our Sennebogen material handler leads the operation, placing material accurately into the hull, while supporting machines from the West Buckland fleet — including the Hitachi ZX130, Volvo EC140 and CAT 938K wheel loader — manage the spreading and compaction process.

As more wood chip is loaded, the team works progressively higher, compacting the material layer by layer to maximise capacity and ensure the vessel is filled evenly and efficiently. This process continues until the ship is filled right up to the brim.

Reliability Where It Matters Most

Loading operations often run late into the night to meet tight shipping schedules. In environments like this, machinery reliability is critical. Consistent performance allows the operation to maintain momentum without interruption, helping avoid delays and maximise loading efficiency across the entire vessel.

West Buckland Plant’s fleet is maintained and selected specifically for demanding industrial environments — where downtime simply isn’t an option.

Built for High-Output Operations

Handling thousands of tonnes across multiple vessels in a single week highlights the capability of both the machinery and the teams operating it. From the first load at the base of the hull to final compaction at the top, every stage relies on equipment that performs exactly as required.

That’s what West Buckland Plant delivers — reliable machinery for large-scale, high-output operations.
